This starts with marble asked to do something new: look soft. She borrowed the geometry of weaving, an ancient practice rooted across cultures worldwide, and translated it directly into marble. She named the collection for the idea itself: nudo, knot in Spanish, the thing that quietly ties traditions, materials, and people together.

Creative Process

Every piece started as a digital sketch, refined into a render precise enough to calibrate the whole design before a single block of stone was ever chosen. From there, ARCA's robotic arm took over the labor no hand could manage at that scale and precision, carving the interior geometries the knot motif required. A master carver then finished each piece by hand, which is how the collection gets its softness, turning one of the hardest materials available into something that reads as soft.

Creative Direction

At NUDO's debut in ARCA's Wynwood space during Miami Art Week 2022, nothing was roped off. People sat on the pieces, leaned on them, and touched them. The collection was made to be used. Mirrored surfaces ran through the installation, doubling the marble back on itself until the carved weave patterns multiplied into their own reflections, so the room felt more woven and continuous than sixteen pieces and five accessories might suggest.

Nudo is knot in Spanish. The universal craft of weaving is rooted in ancient cultures from across the globe, and each piece in NUDO pays homage to that history. Our presentation with ARCA is an expression of what binds us together as the world converges in Miami to celebrate art and design.
