Kelly Wearstler’s wildly popular transformation of the Bergdorf Goodman restaurant on Bergdorf Goodman’s posh seventh floor deemed it the go-to place to see and be seen in the city. For her first project in New York City, Wearstler was inspired by sophisticated salons of the past with a nod to the building’s Beaux Arts heritage.
Kelly utilized a modern mix of elements from the 1930s to the 1970s in this bright, well-appointed space. A refined palette of ebony, ivory, robin’s egg blue, chartreuse, mustard yellow and bronze elicits a luxe playfulness in the space. The designer fashioned the drawing room atmosphere with pieces that established a residential feel, including hooded bergère chairs, a Wearstler signature, to encourage intimate conversation, and a DeGournay custom-designed turquoise silk wallcovering with a delicate chinoiserie pattern. |
With Central Park in clear view from the expansive windows, BG remains one of the most fashionable restaurants in all of Manhattan. |
