lalannes

Claude and Francois-Xavier Lalanne, two very individualistic sculptors whose work is often percieved as if to be by just one. Claude tending to prefer vegetation such as an apple or a cabbage, whereas Francois-Xavier favoured animals such as sheep and hippos. Their first exhibition together featured a rhinoceros desk and an cabbage with chicken legs. They were commissioned privately by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berger from the 1960's onwards and their last exhibition was in 2009 which featured a number of their pieces on Park Avenue in New York.
