Junior Product Designer

Kelly Wearstler is looking for a highly motivated, creative and passionate Junior Product Designer. This candidate must have a strong foundation with an elevated sensibility of materiality and design specifically related to concept development and product fabrication. The designer will work closely with the Creative Director on a variety of projects including furniture collections, home objects, custom hospitality designs and one-of-a-kind furniture for residential projects. The Junior Product Designer will be involved in all phases of the design process from initial sketch ideation to creating a working drawing set for manufacturers through the product development phase.

Duties
  • Assist the Creative Director in meeting all product development related deadlines
  • Develop mood boards and hand sketch new concepts
  • Create detailed shop drawings for products in AutoCAD
  • Utilize Sketchup and Rhino for 3D renderings of products
  • Assist in coordinating with Interiors department on their furniture and product development related project
  • Help maintain a detailed production schedule for weekly outside development meetings with vendors
  • Conduct vendor visits within Los Angeles assisting the directors in overseeing product development and production as needed
  • Coordinate daily correspondence with production team and vendors
  • Assist with coordinating logistics pertaining to product development and production
  • Manage and maintain design assets and material library to maximize efficient location and retrieval by KW staff
  • Create spreadsheets for product specifications and market orders
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1+ years in high-end product development
  • Demonstrated expertise in AutoCAD
  • Strong hand-sketching skills
  • Digital 3D modeling capabilities in programs such as SketchUp, Rhino or AutoCAD 3D
  • Experience with 3D printing is a plus

Duties
  • Manage multiple design projects end-to-end across luxury hospitality, commercial and private residential; act as main point of contact for projects
  • Lead design development, drawing and documentation of projects during the design as well as management of the scope, schedule and budget during construction. This includes coordination with clients, contractors and fabricators
  • Oversee submission of budgets and drawing sets, including but not limited to, specifications, technical production and basic code knowledge

Kelly Wearstler is looking for a very talented Architectural Designer with experience in luxury hotels, restaurants and high-end residential projects.As an Architectural Designer you will participate in all project phases and own production of relevant documentation to execute design at a high level. You should be proficient in AutoCAD, Rhino, or Revit, have a knowledge of materials, assemblies and best practices for interior details and construction. Experience in construction administration and some history of completed work a plus.

Duties
  • Work collaboratively across multiple design projects end-to-end across luxury hospitality, commercial and high-end residential; own specific work streams end to end within each project
  • Develop drawing and specification packages, and produce accurate documentation as needed in schematic design, design development, construction documentation phases.
  • Coordinate with FF&E and various design teams to produce plans, elevations, and details in order to ensure design intent is incorporated into documentation packages.
  • Assist with material selection, produce specifications, and review contractor submittals for conformance to design intent.
  • Assist with the development of office documentation standards and practices.
